WHO ARE THE JEWS?

BRITISH ISRAEL DISCUSSION. LECTURE AT NEW PLYMOUTHAt a largely attended meeting held at New Plymouth last week a lecture was given by Mr, E, V, Laws on “Who Are the Jews?” Mr, F. Hartnell presided, There was, said the lecturer, no phase of Bible study or of British Israel Truth legs understood than the subject ‘‘Who Are the Jews?” He proceeded to show bow, in his opinion, errors in interpretation of Biblical prophecies had Jed to the confusion of the descendants of Judah with the'“Jews,” the outcasts, through their own failings, of God. After referring to the Babylonish captivity from which only a few members of the tribe of Judah were willing to return, Mr. Laws dealt with the subsequent history of the House of Judah, which included the removal of the daughters of the last King of Judah, Zedekiah, with their uncle the Prophet Jeremiah to Egypt and ultimately to Spain, where records exist of the “arrival of two Eastern Princesses accompanied by an old prophet and his scribe, having with them a sacred box and stone and a golden banner with a lion thereon,” There was, continued the lecturer, definite evidence of the younger Princess being married to an Iberian Prince, and of the older Princess and the prophet and hjs scribe landing in Ireland, where the Princess in due course married the Heremon op Crowned Horseman 'of Ireland, who wag the reigning representative of a branch of Judah which had reached Ireland a millenium earlier. From Ireland th© men of Judah passed into Britain, James I, being the direct descendant of the Irish King Fergus who in 503 landed in Britain, killed the British king and established himself there. So the Royal House of David came to London, and the promise of God that David’s throne should continue was thus made good. A study of history, continued the lecturer, made it clear that the people known as Jews could not be Judah. They were a degenerated people who occupied Judea after their return from captivity in Babylon, from which Judah had withdrawn, and intermarried with the Turks who had been driven out of Constantinople. In Mr. Law’s opinion the proposal of the British and United States’ Governments to give back Judea to tn© Jews was contrary to the curs© placed by God upon the Jews. Christianity was challenged by three types of Jews, the orthodox, the atheist and the modern. “Fundamentally,” he said, “Judaism is antiChristian, and the discovery of such Jewish books as the ‘Protocols of the learned elders of Zion” showed complete details of a scheme for Jewish world dominion.” “If,” concluded the lecturer, “I had to answer in a few words the question ‘Who are the Jews?’ I would say they are the descendants’ of a little coterie who i -hile captives refused to go with the tribe of Judah when Babylon was overthrown in 538 8.C., but accepted their liberty in 536 when they saw a chance of obtaining the whole of the Israel possessions. They returned to Judea and defied every law of God; hunted and harried and finally crucified the Messiah; became the outcasts of God whose last reference to them is as the Synagogue of Satan.” At the conclusion of the meeting Mr. J. H. H. Holm, president of the New Plymouth branch of 8.1.W.F., on behalf of the New Plymouth and Inglewood branches presented Mr. Laws with a volume of The Sacred Law.
