SUCCESS OF BRITISH PLAYER. MRS. MORPETH BEATEN IN FINAL. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.0 p.m. Melbourne, Sept. 4. After a grim battle over 36 holes Mrs. Walker (Britain) won the Australian women’s golf title, defeating Mrs. Morpeth 4 and 3. A gallery of 1500, including the Governor, watched the play. Up to the 24th hole, when the game was all square, Mrs. Morpeth put up a great fight. Afterwards she was steadily worn down by the British player.
By sinking a 15ft. putt Mrs. Morpeth kept the match alive at the 32nd, • but Mrs. Walker won at the 33rd.
