ATTACKED IN GAOL
GOVERNOR OF A PRISON DISINFECTANT THROWN SEQUEL TO BOMB INCIDENT DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Hobart, Sept. 3. Following the bomb outrage when a gelignite bomb was thrown into the exercise yard and narrowly missed a warder, a prisoner threw a quantity of disinfectant at the face of the governor of the gaol, Colonel L. Mullen. The governor avoided the liquid, a quantity of which ’Splashed back from the walls of the cell into the face of the prisoner, whose eyes were injured. He had to receive medical attention.
The thrower of the bomb has not been discovered. Disciplinary measures have been taken and the prisoners have been confined to their cells. It is learned that there was talk among the prisoners of a strike against work in the gaol and a number of police and gaol staff were ready in force to meet such a contingency.
