LIGHTNING DAMAGE
ONE CHILD KILLED BY FLASH. POWER SUPPLIES INTERRUPTED; British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Sept. 2. Severe thunderstorms were experienced in many parts of England yesterday. One child was killed by lightning and two others were injured. An exceptionally severe storm struck the south-east coast last night and passed northwards. Margate, Broadstairs and Birchington were for almost half an hour deprived of light owing, it is. believed, to electric light cables having been struck by lightning.
