PUKEARUHE NEWS
LAST OF EUCHRE PARTY SERIES. The final euchre party in aid of the Pukearuhe hall funds was held on Wednesday. The attendance was not quite as large as usual. The prizes for the evening were won by: Mrs. G. Baker 1, Miss O. Lambert 2 (after a play off with Mrs. R. Luxton); Mr. T. Martin 1, Mr. T. White 2 (after a play off with Mr. V. Wells and Mr. L. Ellis). The points prizes were won by Mrs. L. Herbert and Mr. J. Davies. Music for the dance which followed was supplied by N. Edwin, while Mr. H. Martin was master of ceremonies, Mr. A. Rooke, who has just returned from two months’ holiday in the Auckland province, met with a painful injury to his finger while at work in the White Cliffs factory. Mr. C. Pepperell, New Plymouth, was the guest of Mrs. H. Wells for the weekend. Mr. Orchard, who has been visiting his daughter, Mrs. L. Herbert for several weeks, has returned to Korito. Mr. and Mrs. P. Savage have taken up their residence at Pukearuhe. Miss A. Wilson was the guest of Mrs. H. Wells for the week-end. The Rev. Mr. Phillips spent the week at Pukearuhe as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. R. Luxton. Mrs. H. Wells is spending a few days at Mangorei. Mrs. Dunn is visiting her daughter, Mrs. L. Kemp. Mr. L. Baker, Whakatane, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Baker.
