SKATING CARNIVAL
MASQUERADE AND SPORTS HELD. Nearly 300 patrons attended the skating carnival in St/Joseph’s Hall, Hawera, on Wednesday night, the decorations of streamers combining with the vivid fancy costumes worn, by those present combining to make the hall a riot of colour. Competitions resulted as follows:— Women’s fancy dress: Mrs. Lord (Red Indian) 1; special prize (most original), Mrs. Goodwin (Maori woman) 1. Men’s fancy dress: J. Climo (rooster) Most. graceful, skater (women): Mrs. Davy 1. < „ j Tricycle race:—First heat: D. 1 Good--win’s team. Second heat: Haggle’s team. Final: Goodwin and Haggie dead-heat. Most graceful couple: V. Holloway and Miss Junne Goodwin. Gliding couple: S. Reece and Miss N. ftsl ey > Women’s hoop race:—First race: Miss N. Kelly. Second heat: Miss R. Hart. Final: Miss Hart.
