SILVER WEDDING HELD

UNIQUE KAHOURI BRIDGE EVENT. Ah event unique in the history of the Kahouri bridge district was held in the hall on Monday night, when Mr. and Mrs. Nielsen celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Nielsen (nee Ivy Deadman) were married at Mauriceville, Wairarapa, on August 12, 1910. Mrs. Sinclair and Mrs. Isaacson, who were bridesmaids and sisters of the bride and groom respectively, were present, as was Mr. Nielsen senr., Mauriceville. The tables were set in wedding breakfast fashion. To the strains of the Wedding March the bridal party marched to the table prepared for them, where a wedding cake held pride of place under a large white bell and silver horse shoe suspended from the ceiling. Posies were made and presented by Miss K. Bonner. The wedding cake was made by Miss Phyllis Nielsen and iced by Mrs. Trotter. Many letters and telegrams of congratulation were received. Mr. Trotter, who was chairman for the evening, was Mr. Nielsen’s best man. A toast list was honoured and items were given by Mrs. Oldham (Eketahuna), Miss Morton, Mrs. Wilks, Miss Ruby Nielsen, Mr. R. Sextus, Mr. W. Trotter, Mr. Adams, Mr. G. Nielsen. Miss Sextus and Mrs. Wright played the accompaniments. At the conclusion of the. programme on behalf of residents of the district and those present Mrs. Trotter presented Mr. and Mrs. Nielsen with a silver tea service to mark the occasion. The hall was cleared for dancing to music by Wright’s orchestra. Mr. H. Hann was master of ceremonies.
