WIN FOR STRATFORD TEAM. Members of the Church of England at Stratford visited Toko on Monday night to play a euchre match with the local church people. Sixteen tables were engaged and Stratford won by 216 games to 199 J. After supper a short dance was held. Winter Show Queen Carnival. ‘ There was a large attendance at a meeting held in the Coronation hall on Wednesday evening to consider ways and means of supporting the winter show queen carnival. Members of the central executive, Stratford, explained the objects of the carnival. Much enthusiasm was shown, a committee and the following officers being elected: Chairman, Mr. Vickers; secretary, Mr. H. Hann (Skinner Road); treasurer, Mr. A. Raynor. Miss A. Bunbury was mentioned as a possible candidate for the east and north ridings of the Stratford county. GENERAL ITEMS. Kahouri Coming of Age Party. To mark the coming-of-age of their son, John, Mr. and Mrs. Stallard' entertained over 100 guests in the Kahouri Hall recently. Dancing was varied by games and community singing. A feature of the‘evening was a one-act comedydrama played by Misses K. Bonner and V. Stallard, Messrs. E. Crowe and J. Stallard., Recitations were given by Miss Thelma Stallard and Masters Francis and Corbett Stallard, and songs were contributed by Mr. Morrison and Mr. B. Morrison. Miss Wilmshurst was at the piano. Eltham Motor Collision. A collision occurred at the intersection of Bridge and High streets, Eltham, yesterday afternoon between a car driven by Mr. F. Murray, Wanganui, and a light truck driven by Mr. B. Pepperell, Eltham. The former vehicle was damaged on the mudguard and headlight. The drivers were not hurt. School Football Final To-day.

To-day the Eltham school Rugby team will play West End, New Plymouth, at Stratford in the final match for the Taranaki schools football championship. The Eltham team is: J. Glentworth, N. Many competitions were held at a dance in the Eltham parish hall ■on Thursday for the funds of St. Joseph’s Church. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mr. R. Hilmer and Miss J. Shepherd and Mr. and Mrs. L. Pennington. A spot schottische was won by Mr. L. O’Connor and Miss Thomas and a “mystery man” waltz by Miss K. Fake. Pappr hat winners were Misses K. Fake and P. O’Connor and Messrs. G. Coxon and R. Hilmer. A cushion was won by Mrs. F. Fouhy, and a tea set by Mr. W. Ruscoe. Dance music was played by Mrs. Attrill, with extras by Misses P. O’Connor and I. McLanaghan and Mr. W. Peebles. Mr. G. Coxon was master of ceremonies.
