The Government regards Sir Geoffrey Whiskard’s appointment as High Commissioner in Australia a fitting recognition of the increasing importance of Australia to a place in the counsels of the Empire. The appointment, it is understood, lent colour to the recent suggestion that Britain desires a resumption of emigration to Australia as soon as possible.
