SUPPLIERS’ SMOKE CONCERT. TRIBUTES TO MANAGER’S WORK. Following the annual meeting of the Tarata Dairy Co. on Thursday night a smoke concert was held, a short toaot bat being honoured and items provied by a party from New Plymouth. Mr. Webb was chairman and Mr. Simmons following the toast of “The King,” Mr. H. Lambert proposed the toast of tne “Farming Community,” pointing out the great importance of the industry to New Zealand. . Mr. E. Surrey, replying on behalf or the grazing interests, said that scientists told them what grass they needed but they did not provide the weather necessary. Mr. J. Hirst said the outlook for wool and for fat lambs was much brighter than it had been. Mr. W. H. Lavell said there was nothing wrong with Tarata provided it was farmed properly. Dairying would produce the same quantity of butter-fat from a given area at Tarata as on any other land. “When butter reaches 140 s again we shall be ‘on the pigs back, concluded Mr. Lavell, “and I think we shall get nearer to that very shortly. Mr- J- Vaile, the company’s agent at New Plymouth, with Messrs. F. Baird and M. Foxon, provided a short concert programme, other items being given by Messrs. F. Gable and I. Pedersen.
