SAMPS ON—GIDDY. Th</ wedding was solemnised in the Whiteley Memorial Church, New Plymouth, on July 31 of Charlotte Isabel (Lottie), youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Sampson, Hillsborough, to Stanley Ronald, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Giddy, Tarurutangi. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. D. Grocott and Mrs. Fredric presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was gowned in deep cream ring ,velvet. The bodice was slightly full at the high neckline, finishing on one side with a silver lame rose, while the skirt was fitting to the knees, from where vandyked rushed panels fell away to form a ''•train. The wide raglan sleeves fitted tightly from the elbows to form a point over the hands and over all was worn a silk net veil fitted to the head with a Juliet cap of silver threaded lace and orange blossom. Over one arm rested a trailing sheaf of cream spring flowers, pale pink carnations and asparagus fern. Little Joyce Rowe, niece of the bride, atfended as flower girl dressed in a deep cream slipper-length frock finished with double accordeon pleating and silver ribbon. Across the front of her hair was worn a band ,of pink velvet flowers and silver leaves and a silver basket of pink and cream flowers was carried.

Other attendants on the bride were Misses Dorothy Childerstone and Miss Muriel Giddy, sister of the bridegroom. They wore deep pink ring velvet frocks, cowled and yoked at the neck respectively, slim fitting to 'the ground, and finished at the waist with silver girdles, while the tight-fitting Sleeves were buttoned from the elbows. Silver shoes were worn and, to complete a charming effect, shaded pink arm sprays tied with silver ribbon, were carried.

At a reception held at the Hygienic tea rooms, the tables were decorated with shaded Iceland poppies io tone with the pink and cream shaded wedding cake and a large silver horseshoe hung over the bridal table. Mrs. Sampson received her guests wearing a black windswept satin frock relieved with autumn tonings, a black “peach bloom” felt hat and stole. A bouquet of autumn tints was carried to tone with her frock. Mrs. Giddy wore a model frock of navy blue, trimmed with white and pale blue wool and string lace, with navy hat to tone and carried a bouquet in deep rose shadings. Mr. and Mrs. Giddy later left on their honeymoon tour, the bride travelling in a checked woven suit, with stole, hat and accessories to tone and also a green coat with light fur collar. MILES—LANGMAN. The marriage took place at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Hawera, on August 7 of Cecil George William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Miles, Manawapou Road, Hawera, and Grace Evelyn, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Langman, Ahuroa, North Auckland. The Rev. A. G. Irvine was the minister and Mr. L. Rowe was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, a gown of white crepe de soie, made close-fitting with semi-cowl neck-line and long sleeves shaped to a point on the hands. The slipper-length skirt was slightly trained. A beautiful veil was worn with a coronet of orange blossom. A shower bouquet of white flowers completed the toilette, and the bride also carried a silver horseshoe. The bridesmaids were Miss Mollie Apps (chief), and Miss Nora Wheeler. Their frocks were of gold and green crepe de soie respectively, each made with high necks ornamented with a diamante clasp and long sleeves ending in points over the hands. The slipperlength skirts were tight-fitting to the knee and then flared gracefully. Their straw hats had each a touch of their respective colours, and they carried trailer bouquets in tones to match their frocks. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with a floral horseshoe by Rosemary Dempsey, cousin of the bridegroom.' Mr. Ro? Miles and Mr. Trevor Miles attended their brother as best man and groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Carlton Rooms, Hawera. Mrs. McLaren, the bride’s aunt, to receive the guests was wearing an ensemble suit in black silk marocain with hat to match and carrying a posy of violet and mauve flowers. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Miles, wore a brown coat and brown felt hat.
