In Theatre Management.
Miss Kathleen Robinson, formerly of Sydney, has followed the example of a New Zealander, Marie Ney, and has ventured into theatre management at London. With three other young' enthusiasts, she has taken the Westminster Theatre, with the idea of putting on new and interesting productions.- Miss Robinson appeared frequently in amateur productions before she went to study at London, after which she returned to Australia with the Dame Sybil Thorndike company. Wanganui Drama Festival. Miss Helen Gard’ner, Wellington, was adjudicator at the successful drama league festival which ended at Wanganui last week. After making her awards, Miss Gard’ner summed up her observations of the plays, and added: “Well written English is much easier to learn, as anyone who has done much of this work will tell you. Anyone who had had to learn Shakespeare will tell you that it is easy to learn—the words stay in your mind like a melody. “I would like to congratulate the Wanganui area on the high standard of the work shown. I congratulate your secretary and members of the committee, and whoever has been responsible with them for the smooth-running of the festival generally. A. A. Milne has said that stage craft is just the common sense of making a play acceptable to a mixed audience.” 1
