Miss Lorna Chapman, Napier, who has been Mrs. A. Coleman’s guest for some weeks, will return to Hawkes Bay during the week-end. Mrs. J. Peacock has returned from a motor tour in the north.

Mrs. T. R. Overton left last week-end for Pukekohe on a short visit. Mrs. A. K. Fyson paid a short visit to Wellington last week. Mrs. A. Petty, who has been spending the past fortnight with her mother, Mrs. W. A. Spragg, returns to New Plymouth during the week-end. Miss Kath. Buckeridge chose a neatly fashioned frock of magnolia and brown tonings in crisp Swiss organdie when she entertained at bridge on Thursday. Spring bulbs in creams and yellows made fresh decorations. Misses R. Pease, Joyce Powdrell, Betty Ryan, Molly Washer, H. Carson, M. Black and R. Buckeridge were among the players. Miss Molly Black‘won the prize for the highest score. Miss Patterson, Wanganui, was a visitor to Hawera during the week. When Mrs. G. J. Bayley was hostess at tea on Wednesday afternoon Mesdames W. J. Nicholson (Auckland), J. M. Collins, R. H. Leece, A. M. Young, H. McWilliam and A. K. Fyson and Misses Patterson (Wanganui) and Harkness were her guests. Misses Olga Hancock and Doris Gil; more returned from Wellington on Wednesday. Miss Harkness is Mrs. H. S. McWilliam’s guest. Bring and Buy. There were over 40 present at Mrs. J. C. Robb’s home on Thursday afternoon, when she was hostess at a successful bring and buy party to collect funds for the decoration committee for the forthcoming flower show. Competitions, games and elocutionary items kept the guests entertained. The hostess wore a smart afternoon ensemble of blue woollen weave and her daughter, Miss Gean Robb, who assisted her, wore a brown frock relieved with sunset. Vases of yellow daffodils and early blue wood hyacinths made real spring decorations. At the conclusion. of the afternoon the Rev. D. B. Malcolm .thanked the hostess for the effort., Afternoon Bridge. Bowls of anemones and japonica made colourful decorations when the Misses Joyce Powdrell and. Evelyn Buist invited a number .of guests to Miss Powdrell’s home on Thursday, afternoon for bridge, and to . farewell. Miss Molly Black. Miss Powdrell wore a smart tunic frock in Burgundy and beige tonings and Miss Buist chose a golden brown silk marocain frock. Miss Black was frocked in an ensemble suit of commander blue with a sipart hat- of the same shade. Those present included Mesdames H. Jones, C. Gardner, C. S. Robb, J. J. Pease, J.
