UPPER MANGOREI NEWS
At Upper Mangorei last week-end a game of football was played with a team from Waitara. The visitors won by 12 to nil. Afternoon tea was served by women of the district. * > . An enjoyable dance was held on Tuesday night at Upper Mangorei in aid of hall funds. There was only a fair attendance owing to bad weather. Good music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Davies, piano and violin, with an extra by Miss M. Sarten. The master of ceremonies was Mr. L. Roberts. Winners of a Monte Carlo dance were Miss B. Pearce and partner. A competition was won by Miss Krutz, New Plymouth. At Upper Mangorei on Thursday afternoon the Frankley Road school basketball and football teams played games with the local school teams. The visitors won at basketball by 8 to nil, but were beaten at football by 17 to 3. Referees for girls were Misses Keightley and Papps and Mr. Thomas for the boys. Afternoon tea was served at the hall. Miss W. Mack spent a few days recently as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. Busing.
