Mirs. Nightingale, Auckland, is the guest of MrS. A. O. Casey. MiSs J. Birdikin, Wellington, is the guest Of Mrs. Pease, senr., MangMoki. Mrs. J. L. Weir Is spending a few days at Hawera as the gueat of Mrs. F. B. Wylds. Mrs. J. Valentine has returned from a visit to the ' north. Hostesses at bridge during the wCek were Mesdames D. Syme, P. de Launay, R. Lee, S, W. Crawford and Miks S. Carncross. Miss W.. Weir was hostess at afternoon tea on Thursday. Mrs. C< Forth has returned from a visit to Wellington gnd Napier. ' MYs. Moßdady,' Stratford, is visiting Eltham. ' Mrs. A. Brown, . who has been the guest of Mrs. H. Spencer, has returned to Wanganui. A flag bridge party in aid of the Anglican Church was held in All Saints hall on Thursday night. Those who Organised tlie evening word Mesdames A. McWilliam, A. J. MacPherson, Mackie, J. R. M. Stewart, E. E. Carter and Miss S. Carncross. The prizes were given by Mrs. J. R. M. Stewart. Those at the winning table were Mesdames S. W. Crawford, A. J. MacPherson and A. A, Stewart, the traveller’s prize being won by Mrs. P. J. M. Coleman and consolation prizes by Mesdames Langston and Corbett and Miss B. Pease. Among those present were Lady Carncross, Mesdames C. A. Belcher, Hart, C. C. Stanners, Gibson, Prentice, Jardine, T. Fountaine, Hardwicke-Smith, Riddle, Weir, senr., W. Smith, Gover, M. McGarry, S. Guthrie and R. Allen, Misses A. Wilson, D. Riddle, W. Weir’, S. Carncross, J. Wylds (Hawera), M. Gibson, P. Fountaine, W. Carter, Hughes, Carman (2), B. Kelly, F. Frazer, Smith .and Harrison. Miss O'Sullivan, New Plymouth, was the guest of Miss E. Leuthard during tee week.

On Thursday evening an enjoyable card afternoon was held at the home of Mrs. Hilmer, Preston Street. The rooms were decorated with berries, foliage and early spring flowers and glowing log fires brightened up tee dullness of the cold, wet weather. The prizes were won by Mesdames Gower, Bates, Scown and Gubb. The travelling prize went to Mrs. E. Scown and consolation prizes to Mesdames McKay, Sheehy, Clare and Miss McDonald. Mrs. H. Gubb, president Of the Eltham Croquet Club, thanked Mrs. Hilmer for her interest in and help to the club.
