Mrs. Ashton. New Plymouth, wks the guest of Mrs, Steven during the week. Miss C. Uniacke is visiting Te Awa•mutu for the golf ball. Mrs. Sheet, New Plymouth, was a visitor to Stratford .for the British Drama League festival. Mrs. Newell was “at home” to a few friends on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Hamilton and Miss Caplen, Hawera, who had been the guests of Mrs. G. Hall, returned to Hawera on Thursday.

Mrs. Iremdnger, Hamilton, was a visitor to Stratford during the week for the Ire-monger-Bevins wedding.

An enjoyable afternoon was spent at •the home of Mrs, Spence on Thursday, When those present were Mesdames A. Coleman, N. Douglas, G. Hall, S, Pitt, D. Morris and W, Farquharson and Miss J? Coleman.

Mrs. Jeffries entertained the Portland Bridge Club oh Tuesday afternoon, when those j)res6ht Mesdames L. Jardine, D. Steven, L. Furrie, D. Malone, Spence, J. Richards and J. Cresswell.

■ An enjoyable time was spent at the home of Mrs. B. Bellringer on Thursday night, when- the performers of the plays al the Drama League festival were entertained at ft supper party. The time •was spent in dancing and music. ■ Despite the weather on Thursday, afternoon, a cheery time was' spent at the home of Mrs. C. Moore, when an afternoon party to aid the Avon Croquet Club’s funds was held. Mrs. Collingwood was hostess and a‘ jolly time was spent in competitions and items. Bowls of golden yellow mimosa were placed to advantage and made bright decorations. During the afternoon songs were given by Mesdames W. Clarke, W, Harris and C. Moore, Misses J, Morton and D. Harris. Accompaniments were played by Mrs. Morton. Competitions were won by Mrs. Harper and Mils. H. Childs. At the conclusion of the afternoon-Mrs. Alger (president) thanked Mrs. Moore for the use Of her home; Those present were Mesdames C. Moore, Collingwood, Alger, R. Macßae, Harper, Childs, Harris, Rogers, Allen,' Clark,: Jenkin, Galbraith, Morten, E. Masters, Masters and W. Ross and Misses J. Morton and D. Harris.

MiSs Joyce Chong, who has been visiting Hamilton and Auckland, has returned.

. Mrs. A. E. Moss, who has taken up residence at New Plymouth, received a presentation from members of the Avon Croquet Club in recognition of her services to the club, of which she has been a member for a number of years. . juarewell Party.

Wearing a gown of white Maltese lace, Mrs. Alfred Petrie, Stratford, gave a farewell party in honour of Mr. Hunter Smart, who is to leave to visit England. The evening was spent in dancing, tee music being played by Miss E. Wilmshurst, with extras by Mr, Watson. Mr. L. McCluggage, on behalf of those present, extended best wishes to Mr. Smart, who responded.
