GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. The Mangorei schoolgirls motored to the Carrington Road school for a game of basketball. Mangorei won with 7 goals to 3. Afternoon tea was served on the grounds. On Monday evening when the members of the Hurworth hall committee tendered a gift evening to Miss L. King and Mr. K. Harrison in view of-their approaching marriage there was a very good attendance. Both these young people have lived all their lives in this district. The evening was spent in dancing, the music being supplied by Martin’s orchestra, and an extra by Miss I. Lovegrove. Mr. R., Smith was master of ceremonies. Mr. H. Thomas expressed the district’s best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity. Mr. Harrison returned thanks., Mr. and Mrs. Potroz and family, York Road, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. Salisbury. Miss M. Gredig is the guest of Mrs. E. Pepperell. Miss Lorna Campbell is in the New Plymouth hospital. Mrs. E. Macintosh is the guest of Mrs. F. Harrison.
On Monday Mr. J. Elliot received a badly cut face when his motor-cycle skidded in the loose metal. After receiving medical attention he was able to return home.
