Two New Zealand youths, Cecil Melrose, Christchurch, and Francis Smootfiy, Milton, who joined the Byrd Antarctic expedition to see the world, face deportation tQ theip homeland unless the expedition’s management or others interested ip the case manage to secure them a passage. For a time they enjoyed sightseeing at" New York but now their pay money is exhausted they are anxious to return hpme. The Brooklyn Young Men’s Chamber of Commerce and the British consulate are attempting to make arrangements to have them work their Avay home to prevent the stigma of deportation, which would involve their staying some time on Ellis Island. Furthermore, it would prevent them from ever returning to the United States.
