Singles semi-finalists at the Queen’s Park Tennis Club will divide the honours as the finals were cancelled owing to rain having extended the tournament. Players did not wish to tire themselves before Wimbledon. The 58th Wimbledon tournament opens on Monday, which will be devoted exclusively to reducing to half the 128 competitors in the men’s singles. Players have been unable to practise much recently owing to Tain. Commenting on the Queen’s Club tournament the Australian Hopman says that Allison and Budge showed that the America Cup challenge was particularly strong. Allison played “with the vigour of several years ago. Mrs. Hopman and Miss Hartigan had the best doubles win of their career in defeating the French Wimbledon seeded pair in the semi-final. They were beaten by Mils. Jedrezjowska and Noel in the final.

Men’s doubles: —Quarter-finals: Wood (America) snd Maier (Spain) defeated Hopman (Australia) and Prenn (Germany) 7—5, 6—3; Hughes and Tuckey (England) defeated Allison and Van Ryn (United States) 9—ll, 6—3, 6—4; Ganderdower and Le Borman (France) defeated Collins and Wilde (England) 3—6, 6—4, 9—7. Semi-finals: Budge and Mako defeated Ganderdower and Le Borman 6—l, 6—3; Hughes and Tuckey defeated Wood and Maier 7 —5,7 —5. Final: Hughes and Tuckey defeated Budge and Mako 4-—6, 6—3, 6 —4. Women’s doubles:—Quarter-final: Mrs. Hopman and Miss Hartigan (Australia) defeated Mdlles. Goldschmidt and Adamson (France) 3—6, 6—4, 6—4. Semifinal: -Mrs. Hopman and Miss Hartigan defeated Mdlles.
