Mrs. Jones, Waikanae, is visiting .relatives at Hawera and Patea. Miss Lander, Mokoki, is the guest of Miss S. Campbell. Mrs. W. F. AUROA COMING-OF-AGE.

BIRTHDAY OF MISS F. BROWN. To celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter, Florrie, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Brown entertained a large number of friends in the Auroa hall on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Brown wore a gown of black satin and lace and Miss Brown looked dainty in a long frock of leaf green armady chine, cut on slimming lines. Miss Fay Fairbrother presented Miss Brown with a bouquet of cream and pink colourings, and maidenhair fern. The evening was-spent in dancing and cards. Mr. Wood (violin) and Mrs. Wood (piano) played the dance music and extras were played by Miss West and Mrs. A. Kruse. Mr. F. Hughes and Mr. D. Mercer were masters of ceremonies. Novelty dances were won as follows: Statue’ waltz, Miss Florrie Brown and Mr. B. Smith; Monte Carlo waltz, Miss Edna Whiting and Mr. Everitt. Among the relatives present were Mesdames Frank Whiting (New Plymouth), Leo Whiting (Ohaupo), Speight (Hawera), Whiting (Rowan), Anderson (Patea), Smith, senr. (Warea), Smith, junr. (Warea) and Misses Smith (Warea) and Anderson (Patea). The cake was made and iced by Mrs. Brown and decorated with shamrocks and roses, Pink and lemon were the colours used in the decorations. Mr. T. Kilpatrick, Te Ngutu, proposed the health of Miss Brown, and presented her with a gold key, which was autographed by all present. The toast to Mr. and Mrs. Brown was proposed by Mr. A, Kruse. Mr. Brown replied and Mr. Bertie Brown spoke-for Miss Brown. Mr. Kilpatrick asked Miss Brown to accept the large array of gifts. Mr. H. R. Wood sang comic sorigs.
