HAWERA HIGH SCHOOL EVENT.

OLD BOYS AND GIRLS COMBINE.

Three hundred dancers assembled at St. Joseph’s Hall on Wednesday night for the old pupils’ reunion ball. The old pupils’ associations having successfully held like functions for 15 years, the event is always anticipated with much interest.* St. Joseph’s Hall looked its best under its canopy of attractively arranged greens and streamers, with its walls transformed by mirrors. Wills' Melody makers provided the melodies which spell success for the dancers, and supper was provided by a capable and willing committee from the parents’ association, including Mesdames Lester, MeAnerin, Kirkby, Crompton, Woods and Marshall, under the convenership of Mrs. T. C. Hobbs, senr. The old girls’ committee consisted of Miss J. Catchpole and Misses B. Woods, A. Duke, K. Brown, A. McLaren, V. Jones, D. Garnett, B» Foy, N. '’Vhyte, and K. and M. Brown. Suppertime extras were' played by Mr. Ray Wills and Mr. W. Barleyman, and the president of the combined associations, Mr. D. Wills, was the master of ceremonies.

Those present included the wife of the principal, Mrs. John Dash, wearing a neatly fashioned evening robe of tobacco brown lace, with, shoulder spray/ of real flowers,in rust red tones, 1 and.short coat of white fur; Miss J. Catchpole, vicepresident • of the combined associations, wearing poppy red ribbed silk novelty crepe, . .with touches of lame finished hand-made flowers,, and the following committee members being mentioned first: Misses A. Duke, lettuce green chiffon velvet, with flared frills from the . back, waistline; B. Woods, hydrangea blue flowered taffetas with white cape;, V. Jones, white georgette with circlets' of blue velvet flowers at the corsage; D. Garnett, pale rose satin mouseline, with cowled capelet; B. Foy, Adriatic blue flat crepe with white short coat; Mesdames S. Shalders, silver white lame with dashes and girdle of flame silk velvet; F. Lowe, floweped taffetas; A. Clement, black ring velvet; J. F. Lovell, willow green French ribbed marocain; V. Sansom, black georgette with gold motiffed coatee; A. Caimcross, dawn pink crepe suede with silver lame decolette; H. E. Hodder, deep iris purple matelasse, with corn-gold lame yoke; J. Boyd, old gold silk backed satin; Misses T. Ingram, burgundy chiffon velvet; R.
