GOLF ON OPUNAKE LINKS
A TWO-DAYS’ COMPETITION. The Opunake golf links were well patronised for a successful two-days’ competition at the week-end, Manaia and other clubs being represented. The finals in each competition resulted as follows: — Opunake handicap championship: G. Cundy (8), runner-up Instone (11). Egmont handicap: Mclvor (11), run-ner-up Thomas (11). Opunake handicap: D. Burton (11), run-ner-up Herdman (12). First medal round: F. Hammond. Second medal round: D. Burton. Bogey round: L. Herdman. Mixed foursomes: Miss McNae and Mr. Lewis. At the conclusion of the games the president, Mr. G. Mclvor, congratulated the winners. The games, he said, were well contested. Though the scores were not high owing to the abolition of the teeing-up rule, everyone seemed to have had an enjoyable time. Mr.. Mclvor presented the trophies to the winners. Mr. Instone thanked the club for the consideration given the visitors. He commended the women for giving up their day on the links so that the tournament could be completed.
