WOMEN’S DIVISION

Eltham: The seventh anniversary of the Eltham branch was celebrated by a successful party last week, when there was a large gathering of Eltham and visiting members. The tableswere decorated in autumn tints, and a musical programme arranged by Mrs. J. A. Rankin was given; Those contributing were Misses J. Peacock, E. Rankin, J. Peters and P. Spencer and Mrs. Rankin. Mrs.! J. Cocker, president, presided and welcomed the visitors, including the presidents from many districts. On behalf of fellow members Mrs. W. E. Carter presented 3Vlrs. Cocker with a bouquet of roses and clematis. ' A two-tier' birthday cake with seven candles was-cut.

Whenuakura: A well attended meeting convened by Mrs. Meuli, South Taranaki organiser of the Women’s Division, was held at Whenuakura recently, when it was decided to form a branph. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. Wither; vice-presidents, Mesdames T. A. Crawford, F. Parsons and W. Parsons; secretary, Mrs. A. Crawford; treasurer, Miss M, Shield; committee, Mrs. Williams (convener), Mrs. T. Hurley and Mrs. J. Pankhurst. The election of an advisory member was left to a later meeting. It was decided to meet monthly in the hall supper room. Mrs. Wither thanked Mrs. Meuli and Mrs. H. Hodge for visiting Whenuakura. She also thanked Mrs. Meuli for her interesting address, and expressed the hope that Whenuakura-would prove a very successful branch.
