ALLEGED OVERTURES TO NEPIA. ~ LEAGUE PRESIDENT’S DENIAL. ’• By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, June 4. The president of the New Zealand Rugby League, Mr. Cyril Snedden, referring to the report that George Nepia had been offered money to play for the New Zealand League team against Australia, said that no authority had been given any affiliated League official to approach any Rugby Union player. If Nepia had been approached it must have been by some private enthusiast. The New Zealand selectors had not yet been appointed, so no guarantee of a place in the team could or would be given any player.
