SPORTS AT RAHOTU
RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED. With record entries in the axemen’s events, which have attracted Taranaki’s best performers, including G. Haupapa as well aS an outsider, A. J. Hughes, who is considered by the handicapper capable of edneeding the Taranaki champion one second in each event, the Rahotu sports, which are to be held tomorrow, promise to be even more thrilling than usual. A feature of the gathering is the comprehensive nature of the programme, which caters for all tastes. As an addition to the axemen’s events there are running, basketball, wrestling, children’s races and novelty events. Capable officials will fill the positions, while the location' of the chopping arena' on the old bowling green ensures that spectators will obtain an uninterrupted View. A broadcast service will keep every one au fait with the proceedings. The catering will be controlled by a capable women’s committee. The day will conclude with the sports dance in the hall in the evening, when Vinsen’s Ambassadors Band will provide the muste.
