ITALY FEARS TROUBLE ABYSSINIANS CHARGED DEFENSIVE MEASURES MILLION UNDER ARMS By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright. Rome, May 31. Italian m ai l couriers have allegedly been imprisoned by Abyssimans and a Czechoslovakian mechanic and his two sons are reported to have been assaulted by Ethiopian troops, who thought they ignored orders. Signor Mussolini has ordered more troops to Africa and has stopped the leave of members of the 1913 class. The navy has despatched further ships to the Red Sea. Signor Mussolini has* ordered the mobilisation of four further divisions estimated at 55,000 for service in East Africa. ; “Abyssinia’s partial mobilisation and the arrival of additional war material compels the adoption of new defensive measures in order to guarantee the security of the colonies,” states a communique. The mobilisation brings the Italians under arms to nearly a million. The conciliation commission appointed by the League of Nations will meet next week.
