“THE GAIETIES OF 1935.”

VISIT TO NEW PLYMOUTH. It is seldom that a first-class Australian revue and vaudeville company visits New Plymouth, so the coming visit of - Stanley McKay’s “Gaieties of 1935” should be welcomed. Criticisms in the Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin papers are laudatory, acclaiming Mr. McKay’s company. as the finest show of a variety nature New Zealand has had the pleasure of seeing for many years. The programme runs the whole gamut of the vaudeville stage, including English and Australian comedians, French clowns, Swiss yodellers, flying Arabs, contortionists, firstclass singers and dancers, a pretty and talented ballet, and an excellent orchestra. The season of three nights and a matinee opened at the Opera House on Wednesday, May 8, with “Hello New Plymouth,” a bright and sparkling revue, punctuated with many delightful song scenes and up to the minute sketches. Two entirely new revues are to be submitted on Thursday and Friday, entitled “Hikin’ Thru’ ” and “Rays of Sunshine.” The large cast includes Frank Perrin, English comedian, Ike Delevale, Jewish impersonator, Nell Fleming, American comedienne, Doi Arnold, Australian funny girl, Victor Burke. Irish tenor, Ada Lynn, lyric soprano, Adele Adair, mezzo-soprano, Cecil Perry, English baritone, the yodelling Newtons, the three Alecs, the Alexanders, hand balancers, Ivy Ivel, Phyll and Verna, tap dancers, and a team of eight pretty girls and three athletic men, whose tumbling is a sensation.
