IN BANDITS’ HANDS
AUCKLAND MAN A CAPTIVE. WRONG TO PAY RANSOM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, April 30. . “I hold just the same views as Mrs. Bosshardt on the matter,” said Mrs. J. E. Hayman, mother of the Auckland missionary, who with Mr. Bosshardt is being held for ransom by Chinese bandits. “Even if I had the money I would not pay it to the bandits. It would be a wrong thing to do and my son would be the last person to wish me to do it.” Prayers for the safety of the two missionaries were being offered in many city and suburban churches, said Mrs. Hayman. “We can only hope and pray,” she stated. “I feel sure our prayers will be answered.”
