DISTRICT PERSONAL ITEMS. On Friday night at the home of Mrs. Williams, a kitchen everiihg Was tendered Miss Ena Tong and Mr.. Andrew Wards by members of the Presbyterian church. About 40 were present including members of the Bible class. The Rev. K. Watson asked Miss Tong to accept the gifts w ith the good wishes of all present. Mr. and Mrs. McVicar, Ngahuranga, Wellington, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Good during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. L. King, Wanganui, have been the guests of Mr. T. King, .“Mount Royal.” - . Mr. Ryan, of the relieving staff of the Auckland railway station, has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. D. Blair. Mr. and Mrs. Evetts visited New Plymouth during the week-end. Miss M. Barclay has returned to New Plymouth. On Saturday night a party of young people paid a “surprise” visit to the home of Mrs. W. William* to honour the coming-of-age of her second daughter, Rose. A happy time was spent in cards, dancing, competitions arid games. The cards were won by Miss Delia Good and Mr. F. Tilly. A telegram competition was won by Mr. S. Cleaver and Miss E. Williams. Mr. R. Keys (Hawera) asked Miss Williams to accept'the gifts. He presented her with., a large key, which was autographed by all present. Mr. F. Tilly sang, the accompaniments being played by Miss E. Williams.
