NEW PLYMOUTH SUCCESSES. MANA AND HAWKINS RIDE WELL. For the second year in succession a party of cyclists and runners from the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club made the trip to the Waikato Easter meetings. A team of eight managed by Mr. T. H. Booth left New Plymouth last Friday and competed at Cambridge, Ngaruawahia and Ngongotara, with notable success. The splendid cycling of C. Mana and C. Hawkins was the subject of much favourable comment, both boys being at the top of their form and giving great exhibitions. New Plymouth, successes at Cambridge were:— 100 yards novice: V. Hodgson 1, A. J. Thompson 2, A. Hawkins 3. 100 yards open: F. C. Gilmour 1. 440 yards: V. Hodgson 1. 880 yards: A. J. Thompson 1, V. Hodgson 2. One mile: A. J. Thompson 1. One mile cycle open: C. Hawkins 3. Three miles cycle: C. Hawkins 1. Thompson was runner-up for the points prize. Cycling successes at Ngaruawahia were: Half mile: I. Peters 2. One mile: C. Hawkins 3. One mile junior: I. Peters 1. One and a-half miles senior: C. Hawkins 4. One and a-half miles junior: C. Mana 1, I. Peters 2. Two miles open: C. Mana 1. A. J. Thompson won the 880 yards flat at Ngongotara.
