Rec. 10 p.m. Paris, April 15. A strange series of railway accidents linked the closing stages of the Duke and Duchess of Kent’s honeymoon, which will end to-morrow, when they are due at London by air. Train services from the Spanish frontier to Paris were disorganised on April 12 owing to telegraph poles having been blown down across the track, so the Duke and Duchess were compelled to motor from the frontier to Bayonne, where they caught an express train. The express train was later delayed owing to a bridge catching fire, but the Royal pair reached Paris on time. The same express, travelling at 60 miles an hour over the same route the following night, jumped the rails near Bordeaux and was wrecked. Three people were killed and 12 were injured in the accident.
