Miss Doreen Barrett te the guest of her sister, Mrs. J. Sole, Wares. Mr. James Simpson has teft daanui to taka a position at AWatuna. Mr. arid Mrs. R. Klenndr are spending a few Weeks with Mrs. Klenner's mother, Mrs. Marr, New Plymouth. While attending to his duties at the main factory on Thursday Mr, Kleririer injured hiS hand. He will be Unable to resume Work for some weeks.
At a meeting held recently Miss Margaret Bosworth was chosen as the Oaonui candidate iri the “queen of the. west carnival.”
Military Dance. The Oaonui hall was well filled on Friday for the euchre party arid darice organised by the RahotU section of Queen Alexandra’s Mounted Rifles. About 36- tables w6re occupied for cards while a large number danced in the supper rorim to music supplied by Mr. Jack Hooker’s orchestra. Mr. R. Norgate played for extra dances. Sergeant W. Gilbert and Mr. R. Norgate were masters of ceremonies. Euchre prizes were won by Mrs. MisChefski, Miss Newman, Mrs. F. Neumann, Mrs. J. J. Dalton (Rahotu), Mr. W. ■ Fleming, Mr. H. Thompson, Mr. E. Coombe and Mr. J. Sole. Supper was served by the committee.
