The Japanese freighter Mansei Maru, laden with wheat and wool, was aground for two hours in the channel off Williamstown during a fierce southerly gale on Friday. Yesterday the vessel was released after a battle by two tugs. A fishing ketch was dashed to pieces and jetties and foreshores damaged.
