TROPHIES PRESENTED
INGLEWOOD TENNIS CLUB.
SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL EVENING.
The Inglewood Tennis Club held a dance in the parish hall on Saturday night to conclude the season. Despite the rather wild weather there was a good attendance, including visitors from New Plymouth, Eltham and Lepperton. The principal trophies won during the season were presented by Mr. H. W. Martin, the club’s president. Mr. Martin tendered the thanks of the club to Mr. and Mrs. I. P. Grant, who had donated the cups for the mens and women’s championship singles, and to Mr. C. | Deem for his cup for the men’s handicap singles. He lelt sure the trophies would do much to encourage competition and raise the general standard of play. The following were the winners: Mr. I. P. Grant Cup, Mr. L. Torrens; Mrs. I. P. Grant Cup, Miss Mary Nutting; Deem Cup, Mr. B. Archer. The music for dancing was supplied by Silver’s Sunbeams, while the master of ceremonies was Mr. H. W. Martin.
