SECOND LOCK HOLDS
BURGLAR’S VAIN ATTEMPT ON SAFE
QUANTITY OF TOBACCO STOLEN.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., April 11.
An unsuccesful attempt to blow a double locked safe was made last night ■at the premises of Messrs. Goldingham and Beckett, warehousemen, in King Street, by burglars who leisurely searched the warehouse for money and keys and decamped with a quantity of tobacco in two suitcases.
The intruders thoroughly ransacked the premises, but found no cash. They blew the first lock off the safe, but the second lock resisted their efforts.
