RUGBY IN OHURA

SUB-UNION S ANNUAL MEETING.

DRAW FOR SEASON'S EVENTS. The annual meeting of the Ohura Rugby Sub-Union was held on Friday when the following delegates were present: Messrs. J. L. Robinson (president), Kallil and Flanag&n (Ohura), Stoddard, Margan and Binns (Matiere), Old, Ellis and Johnson (Tokirima) and Manning, Binns and Bruce (Niho Niho). The chairman congratulated the Ohura club upon its fine record, but remarked' that Matiere was a strong runner-up, Ohura being at times fully extended. Matiere won the junior banner. Tokirima holds the Monsour Cup this season and the school championship went to Ohura. The representative team was a very strong one. It had five games to play in defence of the Carlsen Cup and won them all.

The president was appreciative of the good work done by the referees, their capable handling of the games being a contributing factor to the harmony which prevailed in the sub-union throughout the season. Some of the junior referees gave very promising displays. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of over £7, in spite of several comparatively heavy withdrawals. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr. D. J. Bruce; president, Mr. J. L. Robinson; vice-presidents, Messrs. Johnson, Baker and Allen; secretary, Mr. R. Robinson; endorsing officers, presi-' dent and secretary; auditor, Mr. Geo. Denison; King Country Rugby Union delegates, Messrs. J. R. Robinson, Binns and Flanagan, Mr. J. Flanagan being appointed to act for the sub-union on the King Country union management committee; sole selector, Mr. R. Robinson; junior selectors, Messrs. Margan, Ellis and Salmond; gatekeepers, Messrs. W. Fulcher, E. Smart, C. Manning, H. Johnson, J. Gray and H. Turner. It was agreed that the season should open with the Baker Cup knock-out competition and that the draw be the same as last year. The championship competition is to be played on similar conditions to last year and commence on Saturday, May 4. ; The draw is:— ' Baker Cup: Ohura v. Tokirima, at Tokirima; Niho Niho v. Matiere, at Matiere; final at Tokirima or Ohura. Junior games will precede the senior and the final to be arranged later. Banner competition:—First round: Matiere v. Ohura, at Matiere; Niho Niho v. Tokirima, at Niho Niho. Second round: Tokirima v. Maitere, at Tokirima; Niho Niho v. Ohura, at Niho Niho. Third round: Tokirima v. Ohura, at Tokirima; Matiere v. Niho Niho, at Matiere.

The grounds for the second round will be in reverse order, while the third round will be played in the same manner as the first round and the fourth round games will be the same as in the second. Junior games will all be played on the same date and ground as the senior.

The arrangements made with the Medical Association with regard to injured players was renewed for the ensuing season.

Last year’s third grade organisers were re-elected.

Six school footballs will be provided.

Messrs. Kallil, Johnson and Salmond were chosen for the referees’ appointment board.
