ARTIFICIAL DECOYS
AMENDMENTS TO PROVISIONS. NOTIFICATION TO SOCIETY. Amendments made to the provisions governing the use of artificial decoys under the Animals Protection and Game Act are contained in the supplement of March 25 to the New Zealand Gazette of March 21. They were brought before the notice of the council of the Stratford Acclimatisation Society at. its meeting on Tuesday night by the Department of Internal Affairs. '
No person may now use live birds of any species as decoys or use more, than 15 artificial decoys at one time, except the Auckland district, where the number is 10, nor spread the decoys over more than 30 yards. One set of artificial decoys must not be placed within 100 yards of any others. A motor vehicle may not be used to take any game, but the use of a motor for travelling to and from a rendezvous is permitted. The use of any unmoored floating stand, pontoon, hide, mai-mai, or any boat dressed or covered in any way is barred, while any person shooting from any. shelter, mai-mai, mudhole, boat, louvic, or other contrivance is restricted to the use of one gun.
