YOUNG WOMAN DIES

CHARGE BROUGHT AGAINST MAN.

DOCTORS GIVE EVIDENCE. ' By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The inquest into the death of Adeline Mary Bradley, aged 22, and a charge against Joseph Frederick David Clarkson of manslaughter were taken in conjunction in the Magistrate’s Court to-day.' '

Dr. D. E. Orchard said that at 8.40 on March 17 he visited a house in Worcester Street, being taken there by Clarkson. He examined Miss Bradley, who was lying unconscious. He suspected the presence of air or gas in the heart and applied restorative measures, but they were unsuccessful. The woman died at 9.13 p.m. Clarkson told Dr. Orchard in conversation that a syringe had been used.

Dr. A. 8.. Pearson, pathologist at the. Christchurch Hospital, said death was due to air embolism. Detective D. McKenzie read a statement taken from Clarkson on March 28. Clarkson pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed in £lOO, with one surety of £lOO.
