WEEK-END GOLF

MANGATOKI MEDAL ROUND. * *• . •- . . F. TAYLOR THE WINNER. ,F. Taylor, 99—28—71, was the winner of >a medal round over 18 holes at the Mangatoki golf course. Other scores were: Glover 96—24—72, G. L. Pease 93— 18—75, Bolger 96—20—76, G. D. McGregor 98—22—76, Davies 98—20—78. ABBOTT FERNS HELD. L. T. Quin (2) and R. H. Free (10).were unable to win the Abbott Ferns from J. H. Morton (7) and H. P. Dale (scr.) in. a challenge for the trophies, the game finishing all square. Quin played a good, round, returning a card of 71.

MANAKORIHI CLUB’S COURSE. IMPROVEMENTS EFFECTED. About a dozen members- of the Manakorihi Golf Club attended a working bee at the links at the week-end and did useful ’work in repairing stiles and erecting netting over a drain. Some of the women members were also present and provided morning tea. After completing the work several members played over a few holes and reported that the course should be in good order in a short time. Benefit is expected from the fact that the fairways can now be kept short with the mower.
