SPORTS AT WAITARA.
Record entries have been received by the Waitara Cycle, Athletic and Axemen’s Club for the annual sports tomorrow on the Camp. Reserve, Waitara. Patrons , will be provided with a good variety of events, including three big chopping events, seven cycle events, seven running events and seven Highland events. The chief cycling event will be the two miles' New Zealand championship, and with such men as J. Foote, C. Parker, C. Bourke, T. Haw, L. Wood, G. Parker and other high-class wheelmen a great race is sure to eventuate. In the chopping section will be such axemen as G. Haupapa, Shewry brothers, Schrieber, Wooldridge and Bakewell. In the running events D. Dowsett, Auckland, and Mcßoberts, Taranaki, 100 yards champion, will compete. W. . Wells, who recently won the Taranaki one-mile championship, H. Telford, half-mile champion, A. Low, and G. TufJory will be in the distance events.
