MIDHIRST CEMETERY

PROVISION OF ENTRANCE. ( COUNTY ASSISTANCE SOUGHT. ’ . 1 The provision of an appropriate mam ( entrance to the new cemetery at Mid- ( hirst, including concrete wing walls and ( suitable double gates, was discussed by Messrs. G. P. Harkness and J. Schu- 1 macher, representing the Midlurst Cemetery Board, and representatives of the , Stratford County Council on Saturday. , The county councillors, who with : Harkness and Schumacher inspected the site, were Messrs. T. R. Anderson (chairman) and S. Pitt and W. Vickers (north riding members). Mr. J. W. S P? n = e ’ county engineer, on whose planj)f the section the discussion was based, was also present. t , The Midhirst representatives sought some assistance from the council m defraying the expense, and asked that the work be done by county workmen under the supervision of Mr. SP en °®" Harkness pointed out that the gate, which would be placed at the comer, would improve a bad comer on the road, inasmuch that for the ento bank would have to be cut back, giving clearer vision on a busy section of h g - way. He asked that the council accept a subsidy from the board, possibly £1 for £1 but determined by the cost of the work and the amount of the boards funds, and that the county men should do the work. iit -was really a county rather than a riding matter, said Mr. Anderson, die considered the council would probably be justified in giving some assistance. The matter would be discussed by th full council at its next meeting, he said, when a decision could be given. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. E./ H. Newland and Mr. F.
