Forthcoming festivities in connection with the Jubilee of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School are going to be brilliant, and will necessitate considerable dressmaking. Scanlans Ltd. are showing a splendid range of fabrics both for day and evening wear at extremely moderate prices, and extend a hearty invitation to view the new materials. In the showroom also will be found many lovely day and evening frocks inexpensively priced* The carnival dance organised by the East End social committee on Saturday night after the Flannagan Cup swim was very successful. The hall was crowded and the confetti, streamers and balloons served to put the dancers in a carnival mood. Hooker’s orchestra provided lively music and Mr. P. Draper was master of ceremonies. Th& Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. and Mrs. Barriball, the balloon dance by Miss Brown and Mr. L. Moorhead and the lucky spot dance by Miss Bullott and Mr. L. Eddleston. To-morrow at 11 a.m. Newton King Ltd. is offering on behalf of the Patua Dairy Company at the Patua factory a quantity of boarding and scantling, iron shed for removal and sundries. The sale is advertised to-day.
