ACCIDENT ON FARM
DEATH OF TARATA SETTLED. LEG AMPUTATION NECESSARY. The death occurred at the New Plymouth hospital yesterday of Mr. Joseph William Burgess, a well-known farmer of the Tarata district. Mr. Burgess, who was a single man aged 55, was a resident of the Inglewood district all his life. Some years ago he left Norfolk Road, where he lived with his parents,,to begin farming at Tarata. He was very popular in the district. On Thursday he met with an accident during the demonstration of a tractor on his property, his leg being broken. He was taken to the New Plymouth hospital, and on Saturday it was; foundnecessary to amputate the limb.
