TATARAIMAKA HALL
ANNUAL MEETING OF SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Tataraimaka Hall Society was held last Thursday night. Mr. W. Young presided over an attendance of 14. The report stated that the society had been particularly fortunate during the year in the matter of donations. The Query Club, which had disbanded, handed its credit balance of £5 to the hall funds, the young people of the district gave £2 15s 7d as a result of their activities, and the factory staff gave the proceeds of their’dances, amounting to over £9. It was stipulated, however, by the factory staff that this sum was to be set aside to form the nucleus of a fund to complete the lining of the hall. The thanks of the committee were due to the women of the district, who had readily helped with any gatherings organised, especially the annual gala day, which showed a profit of £27. Proceeds from hall hire showed a profit of 100 per cent, on last year’s takings. The report and balance-sheet were adopted without discussion. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. W. Young; secretary, Mr. W. McCarty; committee, Messrs. M. Fabish, T. Fabish and D. Hutchins; auditor, Mr. P. G. Knight. Mr. W. Young referred to the work of the retiring members of the committee and to the honorary auditor, Mr. P. G. Knight. After discussion on the gala day to be held on Easter Monday it was decided to call a general meeting at a date to be fixed by the committee and make final arrangements. The following were elected members of the society: Mesdames W. Young, M. Fabish, Messrs. W. McCarthy, junr., S. Snowden and B. Mattson.
