INFLATIONIST MOVE
ISSUE OF FIAT CURRENCY. EX-SOLDIERS’ COMPENSATION. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright Rec. 7.35 p.m. Washington, March 21. In a surprise move to-day the inflationists in the House of Representatives brought forward the so-called Patman Bill to pay veterans’ adjusted compensation certificates not due until 1945 with the issuance of two billion dollars of fiat currency. Tire Bill was passed by 202 votes to 191. Another Bill for the immediate, payment through Treasury borrowing is pending in the House and a vote on it will demand as an alternative the Patman Bill. Administration leaders pointed out that President Roosevelt would veto either measure, but the inflationists, showing unexpected strength, pushed it through the- vote over protests.
