Eczema Among Sheep.

One of the theories on which Dr. W. A. Bowie is working in his endeavour to discover the cause of facial eczema among sheep in the Gisborne district is that the trouble originates from a fungus growth on grass stems. His experiments are not yet conclusive, but it is considered interesting that contact with the fungus has an irritating effect on the human skin. A splendid entry has been received for the Awakino sale to be conducted by Newton King Ltd. on Friday next, March 29, and buyers are thoroughly recommended to attend this fixture for their requirements. Three times the Westown school has won the cup for the runner-up at the North Taranaki Primary Schools’ amateur Athletic Association’s annual sports meetings, not tjvice, as stated yesterday. The Farmers’ Co-op. is offering on the farm at Ngamotu Road a whole herd comprising 14 dairy cows in milk. The cows are all Jersey cross, of good quality and constitution, and all are due to calve in July and August. Buyers in search of good cows coming in early will be well advised to attend this sale.
