Mrs. P. E. Stainton left yesterday on a holiday visit to Wellington. Miss Nancy Neville entertained a few friends at bridge on Tuesday evening. Mrs. H. E. Fookes returned on Thursday from a short holiday at Wellington.

Miss Olive Firth left by car on * Thursday to spend a few days at Wellington.

Mrs. Hackett, Wanganui, is visiting New Plymouth and is the guest of Mrs. E." C. Hayton.

Miss N. Thomson has arrived from Wellington to spend a holiday with her mother, Mrs. W. D. Thomson. Mrs. A. L. W. Griffiths will leave by rar to-day on a holiday visit to Hamilton.

Mrs. G. Coppiestone motored to Tauranga during the week to spend a short holiday there.

Mrs. H. J. Grayson, Dunedin, and formerly of New Plymouth,, is a visitor to New Plymouth. Miss Mclntosh, Wellington, arrived during the week to spend a holiday at New Plymouth. Miss Nancy James left on Thursday to spend a holiday at Taihape.

Mrs. W. J. Reid was hostess at a morning tea party on Thursday, in honour of Mrs; H. J. Grayson, Dunedin.

Mrs. Harvey, Devonport, Auckland, will arrive to-day to be the guest of Mrs. C. E. Williams for a short holiday. Miss D. Bates, of the Y.W.C.A. staff, returned on Thursday evening from a visit to Christchurch.

Mrs. Arthur Foreman returned to Tikorangi on Thursday after a short visit to her mother, Mrs. C. M. Hill. Miss F. Livesey, who had been the guest of her sister, Mrs. H. W. Whit-, combe, left for Auckland on Wednesday night.

Mrs. A. G. Harvey, Stratford, and her daughter, Mrs. Fisher, Wanganui, have arrived to spend a holiday as the guests of Mrs. T. C. List. Mi.gq S. Thomson, who has been visiting Mrs. J. N. Stephenson at Nelson for several weeks, will return to New Plymouth this evening.

Mrs. C. Linwood was hostess at a tennis party at the home of Mrs. A. J. Rutherford on Thursday afternoon in honour of her sister, Mrs. F. Kingsford, Cambridge. Miss Helen O’Leary-Fay, of the nursing staff, of the New Plymouth Public Hospital, left during the week to spend her annual holiday leave at Auckland. Mrs. G. A. Blennerhassett has been ’ visiting her sister, Mrs. D. F. C. Saxton, for a few days, and will return to Auckland to-day.

Mrs. F. Wilkie, Rotorua, has been visiting New Plymouth. She left on Thursday on her return, accompanied by Miss V. Chong, who will be her guest. Mrs. Eliot King, who has been on a motoring tour qf the South Island for several weeks, will return to New Plymouth to-day.

Miss Hay, matron of King George’s Hospital, Rotorua, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth and is the guest of Miss M. Gavin.

Mrs. J. W. Deem and Mrs. V. Rapson, Wanganui, who have been spending a holiday at a beach cottage at, Fitzroy, will leave by car to-mofrow on their return home.

On Thursday evening Miss Viva Whitcombe was hostess at a farewell bridge party for Miss Elsie Cruickshank. Bowls of pale pink miniature dahlias made attractive floral decorations for the room, where three tables were occupied by players. The prize-winners were Miss B. Bullock and Miss P. Bentley. Mrs. J. H. Sheat was hostess at a fancy dress party at her home on Wednesday evening in honour of Mrs. T. Wilson. Other farewell parties for Mrs. Wilson this week included an afternoon tea given by Mrs. F. H. Moore on Thursday, a bridge party given by Mrs. St. L. Reeves on Thursday night, an afternoon tea at the home of Mrs. N. Kyngdon yesterday, and a bridge party last night at which Mrs. M. Kirkby was hostess. Recfent visitors to the Hotel Imperial included Mrs. and Miss Avery (Wellington), Miss Bridgmann (Wellington), Mrs. W. B. Bruce (Palmerston North), Mrs. Johnson (Wellington), Mrs. and Miss Thompson (Auckland), Mrs. S. L. Parsons (Wanganui), Mrs. W. R. Smee (Auckland), Mrs. W. G. Talbot (Wellington), Miss Ridell (Auckland), Mrs. R. S. Clarkson (Blenheim), Mrs. Burney (Palmerston North), Mrs. Twaddle (Hawera), Mrs. Morghan (Hastings). Miss Stanton, who has held a position as relieving sister on the staff of the New Plymouth public hospital for the past year, was guest of honour at a farewell evening given by the matron, sisters and nurses at the nurses’ home on Thursday. Community singing and games were enjoyed, several small plays were performed and a presentation was made to the guest of honour by Matron Campbell. Miss Stanton will leave New Plymouth to-day for a lengthy holiday at Auckland.
