POST OFFICE FAREWELL
MR. J. L. WALTON’S RETIREMENT. The New Plymouth post office staff held a dance at ±he Mon Desir last night for the purpose of bidding farewell to Mr. 'J. L. Walton, who will retire on superannuation at the end of the month after 40 years’ service with the department. Mr. Walton has taken _ a keen interest in all staff social affairs and last night’s gathering was attended by over 50 couples, Mrs. Walton being presented with a bouquet by Miss E. Chainey on behalf of the women members of the staff. Mr. W. Jones was master of ceremonies and Mr. L. Fieldes secretary of a committee of which Messrs. H. Duncan, S. C. Lobb, N. McIntyre and F. A. Rowe were the other members. Music was supplied by Martin’s orchestra.
