BRIXTON NOTES

NEIGHBOURLY ACTION. The combined Waitara and Brixton Presbyterian Sunday schools held their annual picnic last Saturday on Mr. McCaul’s property at Brixton, about 100 children and adults spending an enjoyable day playing games, swimming, racing and wandering through the native bush. Dinner and afternoon tea were served in the bush. A working bee was held on Monday (organised by the Farmers’ Union) on Mr. E. Allan’s property, when a number of farmers of the district gathered to help re-erect the fencing which was washed away by the flood of last month. All worked with, a will, the fences going up in record time. The action of the Brixton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union in taking charge of dinner arrangements and providing afternoon tea was much' appreciated. The following will represent Brixton junior in the play-off for the Country Association junior cricket championship at Waitara to-morrow: A. Hopson, H. Purdie, D. Rowe, E. Richards, D. Andrews, N. Bint, C. Hoskin, S. Niven, W. McCaul, G. Bishop, D. Purdie. Reserves, E. Hopson, B. Sampson, W. Gyde.
