KORITO SCHOOL FUNDS

EUCHRE PARTY AND DANCE. The Korito school committee held its first euchre party and dance of the season on Friday evening. Prizes were won by Mrs. A. Archard, Mrs. C. Keast and Mr. Joe Martin and Master G. Snell. Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss Iris Herbert and partner (junior) and Miss Joyce Herbert and Mr. Lynch. A statue dance was won by Miss W. Snell and Mr. R. Weston. Music was played by Miss Snell, with extras by Miss Lewis, Mrs. C. Weston, Mrs. Len Herbert, Mr. Orchard (violin) and Mri W. Ashman. Competitions were won as follows:— Nail-driving, Mrs. L. Herbert and Mr. R. Uncles; throw-over (given by Miss Lewis), Mrs. J. Swan; box of chocolates, Master W. Woodward; 50 cigarettes, Mr. Geo. Thomason. Mr. R. Weston was master of ceremonies. Personal Items. Mrs. L. Herbert, Pukearuhe, visited relatives at Korito this week. Miss G. Reader has returned from a holiday in Hawkes Bay. Mesdames May, C. Weston, E. Herbert and J. Swan visited Rotorua recently. Mr. G. Thomason, Albert Road, is staying with Mr. and Mrs. J. Swan. Mr. F. Ashman left on Friday on a visit to England. New School Opened. A fine modem school is completed at Korito, and is now in occupation. School Picnic. The Korito school picnic was held at Kawaroa Park on March 12. The children spent an hour at the New Plymouth baths and the older people patronised the tennis lawns.
